We do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

.....
.....we run in the house..."at certain times".
I don't allow unmonitored, all day running.....but usually everyday, we have time when we play hide and seek, and run all over, a scream and laugh wildly and have a ragin' good time together. We have old worn out mattresses for play and we jump on the bed and do somersaults. We scream, and giggle, and run run run......it makes a wildly fun time for mommy and children to unwind alot of energy together and connect in a very fun way.
I wouldn't want my children's favorite playmates to be OTHER children...I want their favorite and funnest and zaniest and most giggle inducing, and fun loving play mate to be ME!!!! For as long as I can keep it that way. So we don't hold back. We get loud and silly.
The mosquitoes are always SO BAD outside.....and in TEXAS...well it's like living in a woodburning stove.
I've always felt (even as a teen and young adult and now mother)....that if I work on manners aggressively a majority of the time.......They will learn that "letting our hair down" together and having loud and crazy fun is a close knitted family affair kept sacred for the specialness of family occasions and the specialness of HOME.
They can easily learn there is a difference between running wild all day with no regard of where your are and having a time to be wild and crazy with mommy at home...where the Fun REALLY IS.
I want HOME to be
THE PLACE they call FUN.
When we go to visit my friends or to the library or store I pull them to me and quietly whisper to remind them that being in other places is not like being home....and it's not polite to run or be loud in someone else's house, or out where other people are......and they really "get it"..... I don't have any problems. The boys are contained, respectful, and polite......
Except when mommy comes crawling down the hall on all fours and chases them wildly to the playroom!!!!!!!!!!!! hee hee hee hee
When mommy comes around for "play time"..... things get loud and wild.....and we have a blast.
I hope we always stay this way. It makes me sad to look at some children who's favorite playmates are other children and not mommy and daddy.
I kind of grew up like this.....don't run , don't get dirty, don't be loud, ......So I was always looking for outside fun...FRIENDS.
I intend to sit in the dirt, climb trees, and run in the house, play Friday night board games, and have my own slumber parties with my children.....
Ooooooh and play in the rain, and make mud pies, and let them squirt me with the water hose, and dig holes, and play cars and trucks, and and and and......
Until they must leave...
And then I'll have all our wonderful memories.
