I am a homeschool mom with six children.
I created a game for the library where the children pretend to be "library detectives". They get handed a print-out that I alter with different subjects. They fill out the sheet and get to check out two books when they are done. They love to do this. It really helps for them to learn how to do basic library research. Where do they look for the books about horses or jokes? Feel free to copy this below and change it around for your children's interest. By the way, you could always getting the detective juices flowing by creating a detective hat and a magnifying glass from construction paper. You could read one of  Nate the Great books. Have fun doing some activities with the book, lapbooking or just arts and crafts (making the hat). You can also find a fun clip from youtube for the old Pink Panther cartoons.Chose and copy one of the following worksheets, or change it around, using it as a spring board. My children loved doing these detective searches in the library.

There are so many "methods" of disciplining or training children, but in the end it doesn't come down to what you *do* but what you *see*: the spirit in the child.
